VALLUM’s Gate, Shape, and Scope views keep your workflow organized. Make quick adjustments on the main page, fine-tune the response in Shape, and inspect your processing in Scope.

Standard mode provides straightforward percentage adjustments. Precision mode adds decimal-level control for dialing in the threshold more carefully.

More than open and closed

VALLUM 1.3.0 expands your options with three processing operations:

• Gate / Expand: Reduce quieter audio, control bleed between hits, shorten tails, or apply gentle downward expansion.

• Duck: Lower audio while a trigger is present. Create space for a vocal, tuck bass beneath a kick, or build rhythmic pumping with an external sidechain.

• Upward Expand: Increase contrast by lifting louder material above the threshold, with a dedicated Maximum Boost control adjustable up to 12 dB.

Use Range to limit downward reduction—choose subtle cleanup instead of complete silence when a more natural result fits the source.

Smart Set that helps you get started

Play a representative phrase with natural pauses and let Altyrian Smart Set analyze the signal and recommend a starting point.

Smart Set considers the selected processing operation and respects locked parameters. In Upward mode, it preserves your chosen Maximum Boost rather than increasing it automatically. Preview recommendations, compare them with your original settings, and keep control of the final result.

Shape the response

Fine-tune attack, hold, release, ratio, knee, and anti-chatter behavior. Choose a gate style or customize the transfer curve directly, with linked controls reflecting your adjustments.

Optional lookahead and selectable processing quality give you additional flexibility for transient handling. Up to 4× oversampling is available, alongside zero-latency operation when lookahead and oversampling are disabled.

Tell VALLUM what to listen for

Focus presets help direct detection toward your source, including vocals, screamed vocals, drums, guitars, and other instruments.

For more detailed control, use manual detector filtering, selectable filter slopes, detector gain, and Detector Listen. These controls shape what triggers the processing—not simply the tone of the audio you hear.

Additional Refine tools include:

• Transient Protection and Tail Protection for downward gating.

• Noise Tracking with a bounded adjustment range and freeze control.

• Source Match, using a learned reference to help guide detection.

Flexible sidechain and stereo control

Use internal audio, an external sidechain, or MIDI triggering. Work in stereo, dual-mono, or Mid/Side, and choose which channel or component receives processing.

New cross-key routing lets one component control the other—for example, using centered content to trigger gating on the stereo sides.

See and hear what changes

Input, output, and gain-reduction meters keep levels visible. Input/output spectrum displays, detector history, and the transfer curve help explain the response.

Isolate Removed Audio lets you audition the difference between the input and processed signal, making it easier to catch wanted detail being affected. Upward processing also includes a numeric boost readout.

An optional Tone control adds coloration when you want it.

Explore 79 factory presets, including 30 additions in version 1.3.0. Find starting points for vocals, bass, drums, guitars, reverb, mix buses, Mid/Side processing, upward expansion, and sidechain ducking.

Save your own presets, mark favorites, and move between sounds with previous/next controls. A/B comparison, Undo/Redo, action history, parameter locks, automation, and session recall help keep experimentation manageable.

• Windows 64-bit VST3 plugin, AU MACOS plugin formats included.

• Requires a compatible 64-bit DAW with VST3 support or MACOS AU 

• macOS is not currently supported. Mac support is planned; availability and timing are not yet confirmed.

• AAX/Pro Tools format is not included or supported currently.

• Digital delivery with a download link and license key submitted to your email.

• Internet access is required for activation and periodic license verification.

• Includes in-plugin update checking and update-availability notices.
